Current approaches to environmentalism do not work because it flunked. Even some nations are having trouble meeting their reduction targets but they are doing better. Developing world is starting to flood the atmosphere with carbon dioxide. The job of environmentalism is to cure the worst effects. If you are rich, you can afford the catalytic converter for the end of the tailpipe. However, it turns out that endless economic growth is built on the use of cheap fossil fuels. China’s carbon emissions increased by 67 percent as they are burning more fossil fuel. Carbon dioxide is the one major environmental contaminant but no study has ever found any indication of improvement as living standards rise. Houses that we build are enormous despite the fact that the number of people in the average home continues to fall. We should consider smaller homes, closer to the centre of town, where we could use the bus, or a bike for daily transportation.
